from the Pop Hot & the Diva: Diva REM, a work in progress
farewell debut is primarily a visual artist who likes to tell stories. She was informed by a teacher at the prestigious art school she attended that she would never become famous because she didn't take anything seriously enough. This puzzled her because she didn't realize that her desire to make pictures apparently required a solemn approach and a hunger for fame.
farewell continues to not take things seriously. She sums up the inspiration for her work with this statement:"Stories reveal themselves here and there and I tease out the ones that are amusing or terrifying."
In addition to working in various media, she has produced multiples, book-objects, and artist's books combining her unique photographs + text. As a founding member (along with artist Norman Conquest) of the international activist art collective. Beuyscouts of Amerika, she produced many mail-art related works, as well as prints, buttons, accordion books, etc., exhibited and sold by Printed Matter (NYC) and Art Metropole (Toronto).
Her work appears regularly in Black Scat Review.
